Position Purpose

The ICT teacher will teach students about the principles of technology and how to use basic information

technology tools in their work and lives at an age-appropriate level. They will encourage exploration,

design, construction, coding and developments related to the curriculum.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Use excellent subject knowledge, pedagogic and interpersonal skills to enthuse children and enable

children to enjoy learning

Make full use of ICT and new technologies to enhance the quality of teaching and learning for children

of all ages and attainment levels

Instruct students in proper care and use of tools and equipment

Ensure identified students have appropriate inclusion support and consideration within all

programmes

Provide individual and small-group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of students with

varying intellectual and artistic abilities, and to accommodate a variety of instructional activities

 Organize storage areas and control use of materials, equipment and tools to prevent loss or

 abuse, and to minimize time required for distribution and collection

 Evaluate each student’s performance and growth in knowledge and aesthetic understandings and

prepare progress reports

 Ensure the health and safety of children and staff is maintained during all activities

 Co-operate with colleagues to establish and maintain fair, consistent and positive behavior

management in the classroom, around the school and on school trips

 Communicate openly and professionally with parents on a regular basis about the attainment and

progress of their child

 Maintain high levels of confidentiality when speaking to parents and external parties

 Contribute to and plan after-school activities as required

 Actively support the school partnership with the community - attending school / community events

which may occasionally occur at weekends or in the evening

 Maintain excellent professional relationships with colleagues by making a wider professional

contribution to the continuing improvement of the school

 Contribute to a culture where teachers view themselves as facilitators of learning and are reflective

practitioners

 Participate in ongoing in service and education development opportunities

 Other responsibilities as reasonably requested.

Professional Duties and Responsibilities

To embed UAE heritage and culture within the curriculum

Plan and prepare schemes of work and complete planning documentation

Teach with consistent effectiveness the children in her/his classes, taking full account of all children’

individual educational needs

 Assess, record and report on the development, progress and attainment of the children in her/his

classes

 Provide or contribute to oral and written assessments, reports and references relating to individual

children or groups of children

 Guide children to set targets to improve on their previous ‘best’.

 Advise and co-operate with the school leadership team and other colleagues on the preparation and

development of courses of study, teaching materials, teaching schemes, methods of teaching and

assessment and pastoral arrangements

 Participate in arrangements for her/his further training and professional development as a teacher.

Qualifications, Experience and Competencies

Bachelor of Science (Computer or similar subjects’ field).

Previous experience working with students whom English is not their first language.

Experience in an American curriculum would be an advantage.
