Job Description

Role Specific Responsibilities: 

  • Serve on the learning support team
  • Assess students’ skills to determine their needs and to develop intervention plans 
  • Adapt lessons to meet the needs of students 
  • Plan, organize, and assign activities that are specific to each student’s needs
  • Teach and mentor students in small groups and one-on-one 
  • Implement intervention plans, assess students’ performance, and track their progress 
  • Discuss student’s progress with parents, teachers, and administrators
  • Participate in the Students With Interventions process
  • Prepare and help students transition from grade to grade
  • Collaborate with teachers to support students with intervention plans
  • Collaborate with LS Coordinator and principals on training for teachers in professional development settings 
  • Assess students with special needs during the admission process and provide feedback to the admissions committee when needed
  • Support and participate in guided reading groups when needed
  • Support and participate in curriculum review where appropriate
  • Teach other courses as needed
  • If needed, lead a secondary mission group
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Master’s Degree in literacy
  • At least 5 years of successful teaching experience in reading foundations

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Prior experience in an international school 
  • Understanding of Common Core Standards
  • Valid teacher certification with Reading endorsement
