American School of Kuwait

Al-Muthanna Street, Hawalli, KW

The American School of Kuwait – A Legacy of Excellence

Founded in 1964 by a group of visionary American parents, the American School of Kuwait (ASK) was established with a clear mission: to bring an authentic American-style education to Kuwait. What began modestly in a villa in Dasman with 75 students and a small faculty has grown into one of the most respected and established international schools in the region.

In its early years, ASK offered a full curriculum from kindergarten through grade 12, welcoming students from diverse cultural backgrounds and creating an environment where global perspectives and academic excellence could flourish. Rapid growth soon led to the development of larger campuses in Surra and later Hawalli, where the school continues to operate today. These expanded facilities enabled the introduction of comprehensive extracurricular programs, giving students opportunities to excel both in the classroom and beyond.

A significant milestone came in 1971, when ASK’s high school earned U.S. accreditation from the Middle States Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools. This recognition affirmed ASK’s commitment to maintaining the highest educational standards, ensuring that its graduates would be well prepared for success at top universities worldwide.

For over five decades, ASK’s reputation has been built on strong governance, dedicated leadership, and an exceptional faculty committed to inspiring students. The school’s alumni are a testament to this success: ASK graduates pursue higher education at leading institutions across the globe and go on to build successful careers in diverse fields, becoming leaders and innovators in their communities.

Today, the American School of Kuwait stands as a beacon of academic excellence and cultural exchange, delivering a rigorous American curriculum while nurturing creativity, character, and global citizenship. ASK’s history is more than a timeline of growth—it is a story of vision, resilience, and achievement, reflected in the generations of students who continue to carry its legacy forward.
