Duties and Responsibilities (Lead Teacher)
In addition to teaching, Lead Teachers are responsible for the following:
1. Department Planning
Work with the Section Principal to set short- and long-term goals for the department.
Create and implement a Department Improvement Plan based on data and inspection reports (e.g., KHDA, accreditation).
Prepare the department for inspections and accreditation visits.
Identify staff training and professional development needs.
Ensure smooth organization and effective daily operations within the department.
2. Curriculum
Plan and oversee the department curriculum in line with school standards and policies.
Ensure lessons meet the needs of all students, including those with special educational needs (SEND).
Make sure the curriculum is well-structured, progressive, and consistent across all grade levels.
Support teachers in planning lessons and using engaging teaching strategies.
Review and improve teaching resources and materials.
Encourage cross-curricular learning and skill development.
3. Assessment
Ensure assessments follow school policy and are aligned with the curriculum.
Monitor the quality and consistency of assessments and feedback.
Support teachers in using assessment data to improve teaching and learning.
Track student progress and address gaps in performance.
Ensure timely and accurate recording of assessment data.
Communicate progress with students and parents when needed and implement intervention plans for underperforming students.
4. Staff Management
Lead, support, and motivate teachers within the department.
Assist in recruiting and appraising staff.
Identify strengths and areas for improvement and support professional growth.
Lead department meetings and ensure clear communication with staff and leadership.
Ensure teachers are following curriculum plans and maintaining accurate records.
