Our Mérida campus offers the International Baccalaureate (IB) continuum, including the Primary Years Programme (PYP), Middle Years Programme (MYP), and Diploma Programme (DP).

We are seeking a passionate, dynamic, and student-centered MYP German Teacher to join our team for the 2026–2027 school year. The ideal candidate will inspire students to develop language proficiency, intercultural understanding, and a love for learning through engaging and meaningful instruction aligned with the IB philosophy.

Position Overview

The MYP German Teacher is responsible for planning and delivering high-quality German language instruction to middle school students within the framework of the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP). The teacher will create an inclusive, inquiry-based, and engaging learning environment that supports language acquisition, conceptual understanding, and international-mindedness.

The successful candidate will collaborate with colleagues to design authentic learning experiences, assess student progress meaningfully, and contribute actively to the school’s professional and collaborative culture.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging and developmentally appropriate German language lessons aligned with the IB MYP Language Acquisition framework.
  • Design learning experiences that promote communication skills, cultural awareness, inquiry, and student agency.
  • Develop unit plans, lesson plans, and assessments in alignment with MYP objectives and criteria.
  • Use a variety of instructional strategies and differentiation practices to meet the diverse learning needs of students.
  • Monitor and assess student progress using formative and summative assessments, providing timely and constructive feedback.
  • Maintain accurate records of student performance and support reporting processes as required by the school and IB expectations.
  • Foster a positive, respectful, and inclusive classroom environment that supports student wellbeing and engagement.
  • Collaborate with the MYP team and other faculty members on curriculum planning, interdisciplinary learning opportunities, and school initiatives.
  • Participate in staff meetings, professional development sessions, parent conferences, and school events.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with students, families, and colleagues.
  • Uphold school policies, child safeguarding expectations, and professional standards at all times.


Qualifications & Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Modern Languages, German, Linguistics, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • Valid teaching certification/license.
  • Native or near-native fluency in German.
  • Strong proficiency in English (required for collaboration in an international school environment).
  • Minimum of 2 years of teaching experience in secondary or middle school language instruction.
  • Experience teaching German as a foreign/additional language is highly desirable.
  • Prior experience in an IB MYP school is strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with MYP Language Acquisition objectives, assessment criteria, and inquiry-based teaching practices.
  • Strong classroom management and communication skills.
  • Collaborative mindset, flexibility, and commitment to continuous professional growth.
  • Commitment to student safeguarding and professional ethics.


Preferred Qualifications

  • IB training and/or workshop experience in the MYP.
  • Experience working in an international school setting.
  • Experience with interdisciplinary planning and concept-based learning.
  • Ability to support students with varied language proficiency levels.

  • Holidays: ○ December: 2 weeks (approx. 10 days) ○ Spring Break: 2 weeks ○ Summer: 2 weeks + 1 week on hold (according to the Ministry of Education calendar) ○ National Holidays
