About the Role
The Instruction & Training Specialist (Referred to internally as the Disciplinary Instruction & Training Officer (DITO)) is a network-wide instructional leadership position designed for highly accomplished educators who are passionate about improving teaching across multiple schools – specific to your subject area or discipline.
DITOs work closely with teachers, Department Chairs, and school leadership teams to strengthen subject-specific instruction, support curriculum implementation, and ensure alignment of teaching and assessment practices across the BASIS International & Bilingual Schools network.
Unlike traditional classroom teaching positions, the DITO role provides the opportunity to influence student outcomes across multiple campuses while mentoring teachers, conducting classroom observations, supporting professional development, and contributing to curriculum and assessment development.
This position is based in Shenzhen and works at the network-level while regularly traveling to schools the BASIS International & Bilingual Schools throughout China.
Subject-Specific Responsibilities
As a Physics DITO, you will support the continued development of high-quality physics instruction across our network. You will work closely with teachers to strengthen instruction in areas such as Newtonian mechanics, work, energy, mechanical waves and sound, and introductory, simple circuits.
Primary Responsibilities
Teaching Support Responsibilities
Although the primary focus of the DITO role is instructional leadership and teacher development, DITOs may be asked to provide direct classroom support when schools experience significant staffing needs.
In these situations, DITOs will serve as substitute teachers to ensure continuity of instruction for relevant classes. These assignments occur only after schools have exhausted other available options. DITOs remain actively engaged in their network responsibilities throughout the year.
