Job Description

The American Education Expert Trustee provides independent educational expertise and guidance to the Board of Trustees, drawing upon substantial leadership experience as a successful Principal or Head of School within an American curriculum school.

 

The trustee supports the Board in fulfilling its governance responsibilities by providing informed challenge, advice, and oversight relating to curriculum implementation, student achievement, school improvement, accreditation, inspection readiness, leadership effectiveness, and emerging trends in American education.

 

The trustee contributes an external perspective on educational quality and best practice, helping the Board hold school leadership appropriately accountable for educational outcomes while respecting the distinction between governance and operational management.

 

The successful trustee will be expected to attend four (4) quarterly Board of Trustees meetings annually (approximately two hours each), participate in the annual KHDA/DSIB governance meeting during school inspections (approximately one hour), review pre-read materials in advance of meetings, maintain confidentiality, and contribute constructively to the strategic development and continuous improvement of Ignite School.

Remuneration:

An annual honorarium up to 20,000 AED may be provided in recognition of the trustee's contribution to school governance and educational oversight. The appointment is non-executive in nature and does not constitute employment. Reasonable expenses incurred in connection with Board duties may be reimbursed with prior approval.

·       Ability to provide independent strategic advice and constructive challenge to school leadership.

·       Commitment to attend four (4) Board of Trustees meetings annually and participate in the annual KHDA/DSIB governance meeting.

·       Commitment to confidentiality and acting in the best interests of the school.
