Position Overview
The MET ThinkBox Media & Learning Specialist is responsible for managing the day-to-day operation of the MET ThinkBox while serving as the school’s lead for media production, digital content, and student creative learning. This role blends traditional library and cataloguing responsibilities with modern media creation, podcasting, video production, and instructional support.
The specialist ensures that the ThinkBox is an active, well-organized, and purposeful learning hub where students explore ideas, create content, and develop communication and digital media skills.
Core Responsibilities
ThinkBox Operations & Cataloguing
· Organize, catalogue, and maintain all physical and digital ThinkBox resources, including books, media equipment, and learning tools
· Maintain an accurate cataloguing system and inventory aligned with school procedures
· Support students in locating resources for research, projects, and independent learning
· Oversee proper use of ThinkBox spaces and ensure a safe, respectful learning environment
· Other duties as assigned
Media Production & Technology Management
· Manage podcasting, video, and audio production equipment, including microphones, cameras, mixers, and editing software
· Oversee green screen production for morning announcements and student media projects
· Support iPad use within the ThinkBox, including basic troubleshooting and workflow management
· Assist students and staff with audio and video recording, editing, and publishing
Morning Announcements & School Media
· Coordinate and produce daily or weekly morning announcements using green screen and media tools
· Coach student presenters and media teams on presentation, scripting, and on-camera presence
· Ensure announcements are professional, timely, and aligned with school expectations
Instructional & Student Learning Support
· Design and teach the school’s first Podcasting Elective, focusing on storytelling, audio production, and responsible media creation
· Support teachers and students using the Audio-Visual & VR Lab for class projects
· Collaborate with leadership to integrate media, research, and creative production into learning experiences
Zone-Specific Support (Aligned to MET ThinkBox Design)
· Collaborative Workspace: Support research, group projects, and inquiry-based learning
· Audio-Visual & VR Lab: Assist with multimedia creation, VR experiences, and editing
· Quiet Zone & Media Lab: Manage podcast recording, green screen production, and focused academic work
Qualifications & Experience
· Bachelor’s degree in Library Science, Media Studies, Educational Technology, Communications, or a related field preferred
· Experience with cataloguing systems and resource organization
· Background in podcasting, video production, and audio editing
· Experience working with iPads and common media production tools
· Comfort working with students across grade levels in a school environment
Skills & Competencies
· Strong organizational and systems thinking skills
· Ability to coach students in media production and presentation
· Clear understanding of digital citizenship and responsible media use
· Strong communication and collaboration skills
· Flexible, solution-oriented mindset
Preferred Experience
· Teaching or co-teaching an elective or enrichment course
· Experience supporting school-wide media initiatives or student broadcasting
· Familiarity with green screen workflows and basic studio setup
