The Art Teacher will build upon the strong foundation of the BASIS curriculum by delivering differentiated art instruction to diverse age groups. This role requires adapting instruction for the foundational years (Lower Elementary) while challenging students with advanced concepts in the Middle and High School programs.
Instructional Duties:
- Teach Visual Arts courses across multiple grade levels — including Lower Elementary, Middle School (Grades 6–8), and High School (Grades 9–12) — using a studio-based, inquiry-driven approach that fosters creativity, skill development, and visual literacy.
- In Lower Elementary, nurture foundational artistic skills such as drawing, color theory, composition, texture, and form, emphasizing process, exploration, and sensory engagement.
- In Secondary classes, guide students through advanced studio practices, including painting, printmaking, sculpture, mixed media, and digital art, while encouraging conceptual thinking, critique, and personal voice.
- Teach students to analyze and interpret artworks through art criticism, art history, and contemporary perspectives, exploring how visual art reflects and shapes cultural, historical, and social narratives.
- Collaborate with Subject Expert Teachers (SETs) to design interdisciplinary projects that connect art with fields such as science, history, design, and technology, highlighting art’s relevance across disciplines.
- Curate exhibitions, installations, and school-wide showcases that celebrate student creativity and artistic growth, providing authentic opportunities for students to engage with the wider school community.
