The Opportunity

NIS is seeking an enthusiastic and qualified Elementary Music Teacher for the 2027/2028 academic year. This position involves teaching music to students in Grades 1–5, inspiring a love of music through engaging, age-appropriate instruction while helping students develop musical skills, creativity, confidence, and an appreciation for diverse musical traditions.

The successful candidate will play an important role in the cultural life of the school by leading performances, concerts, and special events throughout the academic year.

Experience teaching elementary general music using approaches such as Orff, Kodály, recorder, ukulele, vocal music, or similar elementary music methodologies will be viewed favorably.


Key Responsibilities

Music Instruction & Curriculum Delivery

  • Classroom Music Instruction: Plan and deliver engaging music lessons for students in Grades 1–5 that align with school curriculum standards and promote active participation.
  • Musical Skill Development: Teach fundamental music concepts including rhythm, melody, harmony, notation, listening skills, vocal performance, movement, and instrumental exploration.
  • Performance Opportunities: Prepare students for school performances, assemblies, concerts, celebrations, and other special events throughout the year.
  • Differentiated Instruction: Adapt lessons and learning experiences to meet the varying needs, abilities, and learning styles of elementary students.
  • Assessment & Feedback: Monitor student progress and provide meaningful feedback to students and parents regarding musical growth and achievement.

School Community & Arts Integration

  • Collaborate with classroom teachers to support interdisciplinary learning opportunities and school-wide initiatives.
  • Foster an inclusive and positive learning environment where all students feel confident participating in music activities.
  • Contribute to the planning and coordination of school productions, performances, cultural celebrations, and arts-related events.
  • Maintain music resources, instruments, and classroom equipment to ensure a safe and effective learning environment.
  • Encourage students to develop creativity, self-expression, teamwork, and performance confidence through music.

School Community & Professional Responsibilities

  • Communicate regularly with parents regarding student progress and upcoming performances.
  • Participate actively in faculty meetings, professional development activities, school events, and routine campus duties as an integral member of the NIS faculty.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and school leadership to support the continued growth and development of the school's music program.
  • Uphold school policies, procedures, and safeguarding expectations at all times.

Position Details & Benefits Package

  • Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM.
  • Competitive Salary: 50,000 – 65,000 THB per month (commensurate with certification, qualifications, and relevant international teaching experience).
  • Visa & Work Permit Support: Full coverage and administrative processing of Thai Non-B Visa extensions and Work Permit fees.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Music Education, Music Performance, Music, Education, or a related field. A Master's degree is considered an advantage.
  • Teaching Experience: Minimum of 2–3 years of successful teaching experience in elementary music education, preferably within an international school setting.
  • Curriculum Knowledge: Experience teaching elementary general music using recognized standards-based curricula and instructional practices.
  • Elementary Music Pedagogy: Demonstrated knowledge of age-appropriate elementary music teaching methodologies. Experience with Orff, Kodály, recorder, ukulele, vocal music, or similar approaches is highly desirable.
  • Language Proficiency: High level of English proficiency with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Certification: Valid teaching license or certification from the candidate's home country, or a valid Thai Teaching License (or eligibility to obtain one).
  • Musical Competence: Strong vocal and instrumental skills with the ability to accompany students and lead group performances.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Positive, energetic, and student-centered approach with strong classroom management and relationship-building skills.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Experience directing elementary choirs, ensembles, performances, or musical productions is highly desirable.
