Position Purpose
To lead on all aspects of inclusion across the school and to promote an effective inclusion culture
throughout the school, supporting the school in accountability for progress of all children on the inclusion
register, including special needs and gifted and talented.
Provide expert advice and training to colleagues and families to support the learning of children with a
range of needs. Strategize/work with the Cluster Head of Inclusion (Corporate) on initiatives, progress of
students and trends/developments in the area of Inclusion.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Lead for the school on Inclusion and provision
Encourage and promote inclusion across the school at all levels
Allocated teachers, assistants and other resources appropriately across the school and monitor
developments/progress
Work with in-school colleagues, peers in other Bloom Education cluster schools and the Head of
Inclusion on all inclusion matters
Provide training to stakeholders, particularly colleagues and families
To provide guidance and assist teachers to identify students with learning, behavioural, medical or
emotional difficulties
Lead the in-school inclusion team to plan and deliver a range of programmes of work to support
individual and group needs
To ensure that appropriate methods of assessing and recording students’ needs and progress are
maintained
Maintain accurate records and analysis for reporting to the SLT
Carry out regular reviews on intervention plans, SEND and G&T register and feed back to school
leadership
Monitor and review whole school assessment data to report on aspects of assessment to identify
priority areas and/or students for targeted intervention
Follow school policies and practices closely and ensure the Inclusion team does at all times as well
To ensure inclusive practice and equality of opportunity for all
Contribute to school pastoral committees
Support the aims of the school; comply with the requirements of health and safety, other relevant
legislation and school/company policies
Set a good example in terms of dress, punctuality and attendance
Undertake other duties from time to time as the Senior Leadership Team or the Cluster Schools
Team requires.
Professional Duties and Responsibilities
Demonstrate leadership in strategic planning, decision making and line management
Lead the Inclusion team to identify, develop and deliver interventions for individuals and groups
based on identified needs
Monitor and increase the quality of interventions/support planned and provided
Complete assessments and applications for access arrangements
Deliver training for colleagues and families
Raise general awareness to educate colleagues and school staff on SEN
Liaise with external specialists to inform school-based provision
Prepare documentation for submission to ADEK or educational bodies
Oversee SEND registers and rigorous data of progress, attainment and provisions
Participate in development of behaviour policies and procedures
Communication and Working Relationships
Internal:
This person will work with school leadership team to support overview and accountability.
They will support students and their families.
They will collaborate with the Head of Inclusion.
External:
At the request of the corporate team, this person will attend meetings with ADEK and other
appropriate regulators, conferences and workshops deemed relevant.
They may also work with external specialists.
Qualifications, Experience and Competencies
BA in Education (or similar relevant topic)
Previous experience working with students whom English is not their first language
Experience in an American curriculum would be an advantage
Demonstrate professionalism, commitment and integrity
Inter-culturally aware with well-developed communication skills
Innovative, motivated, resourceful, flexible, patient and can persevere
Outgoing, positive and enthusiastic
Good spoken communication skills
The ability to encourage people and put them at ease
