Job Description

Job Purpose

Deliver high-quality math instruction to students, developing and implementing lessons that align with the curriculum, and fostering a positive learning environment.

Main Duties

  • Teach math courses as assigned, including subjects such as arithmetic, algebra, geometry, statistics, and calculus.
  • Deliver engaging lessons that promote active learning and understanding of mathematical concepts, using a variety of instructional methods (e.g., hands-on activities, technology, group work).
  • Follow the established math curriculum and ensure that lessons are aligned with national and state educational standards.
  • Adjust lessons as needed based on student progress and learning needs, ensuring all students can meet course objectives.
  • Design and administer regular formative and summative assessments to measure student progress and understanding.
  • Provide timely, constructive feedback on assignments, projects, and assessments, guiding students toward improvement.
  • Differentiate instruction to support a wide range of learners, including students who may need extra help as well as those who require more challenging material.
  • Use various support strategies (e.g., tutoring, group work, one-on-one sessions) to ensure every student has the opportunity to succeed.


Specific Duties

  • Foster an environment that encourages active participation, critical thinking, and a love of math.
  • Incorporate real-world applications and problem-solving tasks to demonstrate the relevance of mathematics in everyday life and potential careers.
  • Work closely with the Head of Math Section and other teachers to share best practices, integrate math concepts across subjects, and contribute to departmental goals.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development activities to stay up-to-date on new teaching strategies, technologies, and educational research.
  • Maintain regular communication with parents regarding their child’s progress in math, providing updates on performance and suggesting ways to support learning at home.
  • Attend parent-teacher meetings and engage with parents to ensure the best possible support for students’ academic growth.
  • Establish and maintain a positive, respectful, and organized classroom environment conducive to learning.
  • Manage student behavior effectively, addressing issues promptly to ensure a safe and focused learning space.
