The Position
Reports to: Principal
Summary Statement: The Assistant Principal collaborates with Faculty, President, Academic and school wide leadership and staff, students, families, external academic partners and service providers, Boys Hope Girls Hope staff, Cristo Rey Network (CRN), and other CRN schools.
Working with, and reporting to the Principal, the Assistant Principal (AP) provides mission leadership for faculty and students and helps assure the orderly functioning of the school. The AP is responsible for teaching and learning through a well-developed curriculum executed by an excellent faculty using our Cristo Rey and Catholic pedagogical and faith traditions, as well as evidence-based instructional strategies. The AP is a member of the school's academic leadership team, actively collaborating with faculty and other academic and non-academic leaders and directors as well as staff.
Primary Responsibilities
Advise, support, and mentor individual teachers to improve instruction
Collaborate with the principal to develop and implement effective professional development plans
Manage the alignment, and implementation of CRN curriculum to enhance student achievement
Identify academic program needs on an ongoing basis. Work with the principal to allocate resources appropriately
Collaborate with Principal and other relevant staff to assist in the development and implementation of the spiritual,
moral and values based instructional, policy and cultural programs and practices consistent with the school's mission and aspirations
Report to the principal daily regarding goals and progress
Lead the effort to upgrade the level and quality of professionalism among teachers
Qualifications and Experience:
Candidates for Assistant Principal must have the following qualifications and experience:
Strong background in a rigorous, standards-based, college preparatory curriculum
Demonstrated success as an instructional leader who creates a culture of continuous improvement
Demonstrated commitment to CRB's mission and Catholic, faith-based education
Evidence of an ability to analyze and utilize data to increase student achievement
Experience supervising and evaluating faculty and staff a strong plus
Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills
Strong commitment and ability to connect with low-income, urban, minority students and their families
Demonstrated success of planning and executing long term strategic goals
