Job Description

Position Overview

Grace Christian Academy (GCA) is seeking an elementary teacher to teach Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies for Grades 4 and 5, while also serving as the 5th Grade homeroom teacher.

This full-time position involves teaching a U.S.-based curriculum in an all-English, Christ-centered international school environment. The successful candidate will play a key role in both the academic and spiritual development of elementary students, helping prepare them for a successful transition into middle school.

Primary Teaching Responsibilities

  • Teach Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies to Grades 4 and 5 using adopted U.S.-based textbooks.
  • Follow curriculum aligned with Arizona Department of Education standards.
  • Integrate biblical worldview principles into daily instruction.
  • Develop engaging, standards-aligned lesson plans.
  • Create a weekly newsletter to inform and communicate with parents.
  • Prepare and administer assessments, including quarterly exams as required.
  • Maintain accurate digital gradebooks and provide timely feedback to students and parents.
  • Collaborate with the Grades 4–5 Language Arts teacher for cross-curricular alignment.
  • Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and schoolwide improvement initiatives.

5th Grade Homeroom Responsibilities

As the 5th Grade Homeroom Teacher, the candidate will:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for 5th grade students and parents.
  • Take daily attendance and monitor punctuality.
  • Oversee classroom culture, behavior expectations, and student well-being.
  • Lead morning devotions and announcements.
  • Monitor dress code and school-wide expectations.
  • Coordinate communication regarding events, field trips, and academic updates.
  • Support students’ transition into middle school by fostering independence and responsibility.
  • Supervise students during assigned duties (morning arrival, break, lunch, dismissal).
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and Christ-centered classroom environment.
