Middle School / High School Mathematics Teacher

ACS International School Doha (ACS Doha)

Position Overview

ACS Doha is seeking a dynamic and student-centered Mathematics Teacher to join our Middle School and High School team. This role requires a teacher who can deliver high-quality, standards-based instruction aligned with both American and IB frameworks, while fostering a classroom environment where students feel challenged, supported, and known.

Our teachers are expected to contribute to a shared understanding of excellent teaching and learning—grounded in strong relationships, clear instructional design, responsive teaching, and continuous reflection.

We provide training for those new to IB!

Key Responsibilities

1. Planning & Preparation for Learning

  • Design and deliver standards-aligned units and lessons using AERO/Common Core and IB frameworks (MYP/DP where applicable)
  • Develop clear learning objectives, success criteria, and aligned assessments
  • Plan engaging units with big ideas, essential questions, and real-world application
  • Anticipate student misconceptions and design strategies to address them
  • Differentiate instruction to meet a wide range of learners, including EAL and learning support students
  • Use a variety of instructional materials and technology (including Toddle) to enhance learning

2. Classroom Environment & Management

  • Establish a structured, respectful, and inclusive classroom culture where all students feel they belong
  • Set and consistently reinforce high expectations for behavior and academic effort
  • Build strong relationships with students based on trust, fairness, and consistency
  • Implement clear routines and procedures that maximize learning time
  • Promote student independence, responsibility, and self-discipline

3. Delivery of Instruction

  • Deliver clear, engaging, and well-structured lessons that promote deep mathematical understanding
  • Use a variety of instructional strategies, including direct instruction, inquiry, and problem-based learning
  • Actively engage students in thinking, discussion, and application of mathematical concepts
  • Foster a growth mindset and resilience in learners
  • Adapt instruction in real time based on student understanding and needs
  • Connect mathematical concepts to real-world contexts and student experiences

4. Assessment, Feedback & Follow-Up

  • Use a range of formative and summative assessments to monitor student progress
  • Provide timely, specific, and actionable feedback to students
  • Use data to inform instruction and provide targeted support or extension
  • Support students in setting goals, reflecting on progress, and improving their work
  • Ensure students who require additional support are identified and supported appropriately
  • Collaborate with colleagues to analyze assessment data and refine practice

5. Family & Community Engagement

  • Maintain regular, proactive communication with parents through Toddle and other school platforms
  • Clearly communicate learning expectations, progress, and areas for growth
  • Build positive relationships with families from diverse cultural backgrounds
  • Respond promptly and professionally to parent inquiries and concerns
  • Support school events, conferences, and community engagement opportunities

6. Professional Responsibilities & Collaboration

  • Actively contribute to a collaborative professional culture within ACS Doha
  • Participate in team planning, curriculum development, and school initiatives
  • Engage in ongoing professional learning aligned with school priorities
  • Reflect on teaching practice and seek feedback for continuous improvement
  • Uphold high standards of professionalism, reliability, and ethical conduct
  • Contribute to the broader life of the school, including extracurricular activities

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics or related field (Master’s preferred)
  • Valid teaching certification
  • Experience teaching middle and/or high school mathematics (IB experience preferred but not required)
  • Strong understanding of standards-based instruction and assessment
  • Experience working in international or diverse school settings is an advantage
