Job Description

SISU School of Ulaanbaatar is seeking a passionate, student-centered, and collaborative Primary Homeroom Teacher to join our growing international school community. The ideal candidate is committed to fostering curiosity, creativity, well-being, and academic excellence through modern child-centered pedagogy inspired by the Finnish education approach.

The Primary Homeroom Teacher is responsible for creating a safe, engaging, and inclusive classroom environment while delivering high-quality instruction and supporting the holistic development of students.

Key Responsibilities:

Teaching & Learning

  • Plan and deliver engaging lessons aligned with the school curriculum and learning objectives
  • Foster inquiry-based, project-based, and student-centered learning experiences
  • Differentiate instruction to meet diverse student needs and learning styles
  • Create a positive and supportive classroom culture that promotes student well-being and respect
  • Assess and monitor student progress using formative and summative assessment methods
  • Maintain accurate student records, grades, and progress reports

Classroom Management

  • Establish clear expectations and routines consistent with school policies
  • Promote positive behavior and restorative practices within the classroom
  • Ensure a safe, organized, and stimulating learning environment

Communication & Collaboration

  • Maintain professional communication with parents regarding student progress and well-being
  • Participate actively in parent-teacher conferences, ILP meetings, and school events
  • Collaborate closely with colleagues, learning support staff, counselors, and school leadership
  • Contribute positively to the school community and culture

Professional Responsibilities

  • Attend staff meetings, trainings, and professional development sessions
  • Participate in curriculum planning and collaborative school initiatives
  • Uphold the school’s safeguarding, child protection, and professional conduct policies
  • Perform other reasonable duties assigned by school leadership

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education or relevant teaching field
  • Valid teaching qualification/license
  • Minimum 3 years of teaching experience in primary education preferred
  • Experience in international schools is an advantage
  • Strong classroom management and communication skills
  • Fluent English proficiency (spoken and written)

  • Passion for child-centered and inquiry-based education
  • Understanding of Finnish pedagogy or progressive educational practices
  • Positive, flexible, and collaborative attitude
  • Strong intercultural communication skills
