Job Description

Position Overview

SISU School of Ulaanbaatar is seeking a passionate, knowledgeable, and student-centered Science Teacher to teach Middle and High School students. The successful candidate will deliver engaging and inquiry-based science instruction aligned with the American Common Core curriculum for Grades 6–9 and Advanced Placement (AP) level coursework for Grades 10–11. The ideal candidate is committed to fostering scientific curiosity, critical thinking, analytical reasoning, and hands-on learning experiences while creating a safe and supportive classroom environment.

Key Responsibilities

Teaching & Learning

  • Plan and deliver high-quality science lessons aligned with:
    • American Common Core-based standards and learning outcomes for Grades 6–9
    • AP-level curriculum and academic expectations for Grades 10–11
  • Utilize inquiry-based, project-based, and student-centered teaching methods
  • Conduct engaging laboratory experiments and practical investigations safely and effectively
  • Encourage scientific thinking, research skills, problem-solving, and real-world application of science concepts
  • Integrate technology and interactive learning strategies into instruction

Assessment & Student Progress

  • Design and administer formative and summative assessments
  • Prepare students for AP coursework rigor and examinations where applicable
  • Monitor, evaluate, and report student progress accurately
  • Provide timely and constructive feedback to students and parents

Laboratory & Safety Responsibilities

  • Maintain a safe, organized, and effective laboratory learning environment
  • Ensure compliance with all laboratory safety procedures and school policies
  • Manage laboratory equipment, materials, and resources responsibly

Classroom Management

  • Create a respectful, inclusive, and academically focused classroom environment
  • Establish clear expectations and routines that support positive student behavior
  • Foster collaboration, independence, and student engagement

Communication & Collaboration

  • Maintain professional communication with parents regarding student progress and well-being
  • Participate in parent-teacher conferences, ILP meetings, and school events
  • Collaborate with colleagues and school leadership on curriculum planning and interdisciplinary learning opportunities
  • Contribute positively to the school community

Professional Responsibilities

  • Attend staff meetings, trainings, and professional development sessions
  • Uphold school policies, safeguarding standards, and professional ethics
  • Participate in extracurricular activities and school initiatives when appropriate
  • Perform other reasonable duties assigned by school leadership

  • Experience with AP curriculum or AP teaching is highly preferred
  • International school experience is an advantage
  • Strong classroom management and communication skills
  • Fluent English proficiency (spoken and written)
