Job Description

SISU School of Ulaanbaatar is seeking a highly qualified and passionate AP Chemistry & Secondary Science Teacher to deliver rigorous, engaging, and student-centered science instruction aligned with the American Common Core framework and Advanced Placement (AP) standards.

Key Responsibilities

Teaching and Learning

  • Plan and deliver high-quality science lessons aligned with:
    • American Common Core educational standards
    • College Board AP Chemistry curriculum framework
    • SISU School academic expectations
  • Teach AP Chemistry and prepare students for AP examinations.
  • Develop inquiry-based and laboratory-centered learning experiences.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet diverse student learning needs.
  • Integrate scientific practices, critical thinking, problem-solving, and data analysis into daily instruction.
  • Utilize technology and digital learning tools to enhance student engagement.

Laboratory Management

  • Design and conduct safe and effective laboratory investigations.
  • Maintain laboratory equipment, chemicals, and safety protocols.
  • Ensure compliance with laboratory safety regulations and school policies.
  • Train students in proper laboratory procedures and scientific ethics.
  • Maintain inventory of laboratory supplies and equipment.

Assessment and Reporting

  • Develop and administer formative and summative assessments.
  • Analyze student performance data and provide targeted interventions.
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, and academic progress.
  • Provide timely and constructive feedback to students and parents.
  • Prepare report cards, progress reports, and AP readiness evaluations.

Curriculum Development

  • Collaborate with colleagues to strengthen science curriculum and vertical alignment.
  • Contribute to the development of interdisciplinary learning opportunities.
  • Review and update instructional materials to ensure alignment with current standards and best practices.

Student Support

  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and respectful classroom environment.
  • Serve as a mentor and advisor to students.
  • Support students in science fairs, competitions, STEM projects, and extracurricular activities.
  • Promote academic integrity and responsible scientific inquiry.

Professional Responsibilities

  • Participate actively in faculty meetings, professional development, and school events.
  • Collaborate with colleagues, parents, and administrators.
  • Uphold all SISU School policies, procedures, and professional expectations.
  • Contribute positively to the international school community.

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry, Science Education, Chemical Engineering, or a closely related field.
  • Valid teaching license or teaching qualification.

Experience

  • Minimum 3 years of successful secondary science teaching experience.
  • Experience teaching Chemistry at the high school level.
  • Experience teaching AP Chemistry, IB Chemistry, A-Level Chemistry, or equivalent advanced courses is strongly preferred.
  • Experience in an international school setting is an advantage.

Skills and Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of chemistry content and laboratory instruction.
  • Understanding of American curriculum standards and AP expectations.
  • Excellent classroom management skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment.
  • Proficiency in educational technology and digital learning platforms.

Preferred Qualifications

  • College Board AP Chemistry training or certification.
  • Experience preparing students for AP examinations with demonstrated success.
  • Experience in STEM education initiatives and science competitions.
  • Master's Degree in Science Education, Chemistry, or related field.
