Job Scope:

The teaching role at Imagine English involves various roles for a broad and fulfilling job experience.  The main role of our teachers is to teach the Imagine English curriculum in one of our own institutions.  For a more intimate teaching environment there will be no more than twelve children in each class.  This allows you to really engage each student and impart the required knowledge in a more interactive way.

Training:

As well as a full day induction to introduce you to your work environment and teaching method, at Imagine English you’ll also be given a full 2 weeks of training before you start to teach.  From then, you’ll have access to ongoing training and workshops to continue your professional development.  We also ask teachers who are interested to hold their own workshops so as to share the broad range of knowledge and experience that our teachers have.

Teaching Pattern:

The schedule can change from term-to-term.  Generally speaking though, the main working days will be on weekends.  There will also be some hours on weekday evenings.  This is generally the schedule for all private school teachers in China, as this is when kids aren’t at school.

Western teachers can always have a Chinese teacher in class.  You therefore don’t need to worry about a language barrier or class discipline.  All of our Chinese teachers are experienced and will be a teaching help with anything you need to enhance the quality of learning for our students.  For students with a higher English proficiency, you may opt to go it alone and be the sole driver of the students learning.

Imagine English has also partnered with other schools such as a Montessori kindergarten where you may have the chance to get involved and expand your experience.  We have special events such as black tie Christmas parties where we can interact with our students and parents in a festival atmosphere.  We also do limited marketing events which gives us the opportunity to show our skills off to the public.

We know how to look after our foreign staff’s needs as we know what it’s like to land in the middle of China uninitiated.  We will make sure everything is ready for you to settle in, including having your very own modern fully furnished apartment complete with new cookware, dishes, bed sheets and modern conveniences such as Wi-Fi internet, heater/air-con, flat screen TV, washing machine and a modern bathroom.  We’ll also give you a tour of your new neighborhood so you know where important things like supermarkets and other useful places are.  Accommodation will be within a 20 minute walk from the school.
