Ability to motivate students to learn and participate in learning
Ability to build relationships with students and families
Ability to deliver a prepared English curriculum to kindergarten learners and engage students to enjoy learning
Ability to follow pre-developed lesson plans and the ability to modify lessons as needed during instruction

DESIRED OR PREFERRED ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:

Teaching certificate for grades K-5, and/or TESOL/TEFL Certification
Current valid teaching certificate and credentials in the United States, United Kingdom, Canada or Australia
English as a Second Language (ESL)/English Language Learner (ELL) certification, training or coursework
Background in English and language instruction or experience teaching or working with elementary age students
Experience teaching in a foreign country or with non-native English speakers
Work with ESL/ELL students in a general education classroom setting
Instructional knowledge and pedagogy for English instruction and techniques
Culturally responsive teaching practice knowledge and experience

Job Description:

The Shandong Education Bureau in Shandong Province, China, is seeking candidate(s) to work with kindergarten students in their Shandong Provincial kindergartens to teach students English and potentially additional subjects (in English) through pre-determined curriculum. Shandong Education Bureau is seeking enthusiastic, (preferably) native English speakers with a bachelor’s degree and experience working with young children to give kindergarten students a unique experience and create excitement for learning English and additional subjects in English. Education and teaching credentials are preferred, but previous experience working with young students will be considered with appropriate alternate certifications.

The Shandong Education Bureau is seeking multiple English teachers for the 2019 – 2020 school year and will provide a comprehensive package for those seeking and successfully obtaining a position. This is a one-year contract position with the option of renewal for subsequent years upon successful performance evaluations. Enthusiastic beginning teachers as well as experienced teachers who are looking for a challenging and rewarding experience are encouraged to apply.

The Shandong Province is an eastern Chinese province on the Yellow Sea known for its Taoist and Confucian heritage, particularly the city of Shandong which is the hometown of Confucius. It was home to the ancient state of Qi, the last kingdom conquered by Qin Shi Huang, who proclaimed himself China’s first emperor in 219 B.C. in a ceremony on Taishan Mountain. One of China’s most sacred peaks, Taishan features shrines, stone tablets and pilgrimage trails. Shandong Province is known for its temples, parks, museums, public transportation, and city views.
