Duties include:
• Facilitate small group instruction, using co-teaching strategies, within our literacy and social studies classrooms
• Provide pull-out individual or small group instruction as needed to promote better understanding of core skills and curricular content
• Implementation of Individualized Student Plans (ISPs) or 22:6 Accommodation Plans for students on caseload
• Communicate and work with classroom teachers in designated content areas and specialist teachers for case management students to help them make modifications and accommodations to existing curriculum and instruction to promote success across our curriculum
• Provide accommodations for assessments including modifying assessments to providing alternative environments for assessments
• Case management of students on caseload
• Frequent assessment and documentation of student progress to gauge effectiveness of interventions
• Frequent communication with parents regarding student plans and progress
• Participate in referral team support meetings and follow-up testing support for family (ex. attendance at doctor summary reports, interpretation of results, etc.)

Requirements include:
• Bachelor’s degree in education with current certification in special education
• 3-5 years experience of working with students in a special education capacity
• Excellent collaboration skills
• Superior communication skills

Central is looking for a part-time Learning Center Literacy Specialist Long-Term Substitute who can service our population of learners in 5th/6th Grades who have mild learning challenges. The Learning Center Literacy Specialist Long-Term Substitute will be responsible for helping students be successful within the context of their classrooms as Central uses an inclusion model for supporting special needs.
