Job Description:

The Music Teacher cultivates an appreciation of music within students. He/ she teaches techniques of vocal and/or instrumental music expression, discovers and develops the music talents of students, and develops student abilities to listen to and read music.

Essential Functions:

Teaches music appreciation through instrumental music (band, orchestra, instrumental ensemble) and/or choral music to students
Uses repertoire of all types of music literature that are appropriate for all ages and skill levels
Manages the use and maintenance of school-owned music equipment; makes minor adjustments and requests repairs to instructs as required
Established and maintains standards of student behavior to provide an orderly environment conducive to student learning
Organizes the classroom and learning resources to create a positive learning environment
Sets teaching objectives and creates lessons planned aligned to curriculum
Develops and implements teaching strategies to meet objectives
Raises professional advice and feedback to students’ learning progress
Conducts student assessment, records, evaluates, and reports on student development
Maintains regular and positive communication with parents, sharing updates on student progress
Works collaboratively with others to plan and coordinate learning activities
Participates in school events and functions
Additional duties assigned or determined as needed
