Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Education or a Bachelor’s Degree in a related subject with PGCE in Primary Education or other teacher qualification.

Minimum Experience:

  • Minimum of 1-2 years’ experience as a Classroom Teacher in the English Curriculum.

Aldar Academies is currently seeking an outstanding Primary Teacher for Al Ain British Academy commencing on September 2024.

This is an exciting opportunity to join the highly successful Aldar family.

Al Ain British Academy opened in September 2011 providing high-quality education in the heritage ‘Garden City’ of the United Arab Emirates. The children are taught the English National Curriculum – tailored to be meaningful to children living in Al Ain. Facilities at the school are excellent and include a large astroturf field, two swimming pools, a well-stocked library, a large multi-purpose sports hall, an auditorium, and outdoor play areas. It is an exciting, challenging, and enjoyable school where achievement for pupils is at the heart of all we do. The school has achieved outstanding levels of progress and attainment, supported by rigorous tracking of data and assessment in all areas of the curriculum. 

Candidates must have a secure knowledge of teaching the English National Curriculum and the latest developments. Potential candidates must demonstrate a proven track record of implementing effective strategies to raise standards and plug gaps in learning to ensure outstanding progress for all. They will be able to demonstrate leadership skills/experiences at a variety of levels and to be effective in working collaboratively in a team.

The successful candidates will be closely aligned with our core values and ethos and possess a genuine understanding and appreciation of the values of the region.

Responsibilities:

Planning for outstanding teaching and learning, in line with the school Teaching and Learning Policy, through:

  • Creating a climate for learning that is conducive to outstanding practice;
  • Identifying clear teaching and learning objectives;
  • Setting clear targets, building on prior attainment;
  • Identifying SEN (POD), EAL, and G&T students and ensuring that their needs are met through differentiation;
  • Providing clear structure and planning for lessons and learning activities that maintain pace, challenge, and engagement;
  • Making effective use of assessment for learning;
  • Making effective use of performance data and key indicators to inform planning and therefore deliver differentiated lessons;
  • Making effective use of ICT to enhance learning and progress;
  • Maintaining discipline by the school’s ‘Behaviour for Learning Policy’ and encouraging good practice about punctuality, behavior, standards of work, and homework;
  • Assess how well learning objectives have been achieved and use them to improve specific aspects of teaching and learning;
  • Mark student's work at least once every two weeks, and set targets for progress, by the school’s Marking Policy;
  • Assess and record students' progress systematically and keep records; using performance data to inform planning, student learning and progress;
  • Assess students as requested by examination bodies, departments, and school procedures;
  • Prepare and present informative reports to parents;
  • Attend and support parent/student events;
  • Take part in subject development by producing, reviewing, and updating curriculum plans and schemes of work;
  • Keep subject knowledge up-to-date through CPD and professional reading;
  • Cover for absent colleagues; 
  • Any other duties as assigned by the SLT.
