POSITION: Upper Primary Teacher 

REPORTS TO: Primary Principal

FTE: Full Time

SUMMARY OF POSITION:

This is a full-time, on-site role for an Upper Primary/Elementary teacher located in Punta Cana. The Upper Primary Teacher plans and delivers engaging, standards-aligned instruction for upper primary students (typically grades 3–5 or equivalent). This role fosters academic growth, critical thinking, social-emotional development, and learner independence through differentiated, data-informed teaching aligned with the school’s philosophy and curriculum. The teacher collaborates with colleagues and families, models best practices, engages in continuous professional learning, and contributes to a positive, inclusive classroom culture.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Certified educator in Elementary/Primary Education (state/national certification as required) 
  • Minimum 3–5 years successful classroom teaching experience in upper primary grades 
  • Strong command of curriculum standards for upper primary subjects (math, literacy, science, social studies) and experience with differentiated instruction 
  • Proficiency with formative and summative assessment, data analysis, and using assessment to drive instruction 
  • Demonstrated commitment to high expectations, rigorous instruction, and measurable student growth
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and classroom management skills; culturally responsive practice 
  • Commitment to inquiry-based, student-centered pedagogy and social-emotional learning
  •  Demonstrated alignment with the school’s mission, vision, and values of leadership, wisdom, and integrity


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 


  • Plan, prepare, and deliver developmentally appropriate, standards-aligned lessons across core subject areas that promote critical thinking and mastery of grade-level objectives 
  • Set and maintain high academic and behavioral expectations for all students; use rigorous, scaffolded instruction to support achievement for diverse learners 
  • Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learner needs and provide targeted interventions and extensions as needed 
  • Use a variety of assessment tools to monitor student progress, inform instruction, and maintain accurate records of learning outcomes 
  • Establish and maintain a safe, inclusive, and engaging classroom environment that fosters respect, responsibility, and student autonomy 
  • Implement classroom routines, collaborative learning structures, and instructional strategies that promote student engagement and independence 
  • Communicate regularly with families about student progress, goals, and strategies to support learning at home; participate in conferences and family engagement events 
  • Collaborate with grade-level teams, specialists, and leadership to align curriculum, plan cross-curricular units, and share best practices 
  • Model and reinforce the school’s mission and vision in daily practice; actively promote the values of leadership, wisdom, and integrity among students and colleagues 
  • Support social-emotional development through explicit instruction, restorative practices, and positive behavior supports 
  • Participate in professional development, staff meetings, and school-wide initiatives; contribute to professional learning communities 
  • Supervise students during transitions, recess, and school activities as assigned to ensure safety and well-being 
  • Contribute to classroom and school documentation, reporting, and compliance requirements as requested by leadership 
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Primary Principal
