Job Summary:
Ruh Continuum School, part of the esteemed SSVM Institutions, is seeking a dedicated and compassionate School Counsellor to join our educational team. The ideal candidate will possess a positive attitude and a commitment to supporting students of all age groups and their families. The School Counsellor will provide guidance, teacher training, student observations, positive disciplining strategies, conscious parenting support, and Social Emotional Learning (SEL) curriculum implementation to foster a healthy, supportive, and effective learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Student Support and Counseling:

  • Provide individual and group counseling sessions to address students' emotional, social, and academic needs.
  • Develop and implement intervention strategies to support students facing academic and personal challenges.
  • Conduct assessments and observations to identify students' needs and create personalized support plans.

Teacher Training and Support:

  •  Organize and conduct workshops and training sessions for teachers on various topics, including positive disciplining, classroom management, supporting students' mental health, and SEL curriculum implementation.
  • Collaborate with teachers to develop and implement effective behavior management strategies.
  • Provide ongoing support and resources to teachers to enhance their ability to meet students' diverse needs.

Parent and Family Engagement:

  • Offer conscious parenting workshops and resources to help parents support their children's development and well-being.
  • Facilitate regular communication between school and families to ensure a cohesive approach to student support.
  • Provide guidance and counseling to families dealing with personal, academic, or behavioral concerns of their children.

Positive Disciplining:

  • Promote and implement positive disciplining techniques that encourage respectful and supportive student-teacher interactions.
  • Train and support staff in adopting and maintaining a positive discipline approach.
  •  Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of positive discipline strategies and make adjustments as needed.

Social Emotional Learning (SEL) Curriculum Implementation:

  • Lead the development and implementation of a comprehensive SEL curriculum that promotes students' emotional and social development.
  • Collaborate with teachers to integrate SEL principles into daily classroom activities and lessons.
  • Provide training and resources to staff on SEL strategies and practices.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of the SEL curriculum and make data-driven adjustments to enhance its impact.

Observations and Assessments:

  • Conduct classroom observations to identify students' strengths and areas for improvement.
  • Collaborate with teachers to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with special needs.
  • Use assessment data to inform counseling interventions and support plans.

Identifying Children's Differences and Supporting:

  • Recognize and address the diverse needs of students, including those with learning disabilities, behavioral challenges, and giftedness.
  • Develop tailored support plans that consider each child's unique strengths and challenges.
  • Work with teachers, parents, and external specialists to ensure comprehensive support for each student.

Program Development and Evaluation:

  • Develop and implement comprehensive school counseling programs that address students' academic, career, and personal/social development.
  • Regularly evaluate the effectiveness of counseling programs and interventions, making data-driven adjustments as necessary.
  • Stay current with best practices and emerging trends in school counseling and education.

Crisis Intervention:

  • Provide immediate support and intervention in crises, including personal, family, and school-wide emergencies.
  • Develop and implement crisis intervention plans and protocols.

Working Conditions:

  • Full-time position, typically during school hours, with some evening or weekend hours required for parent workshops and special events.
  • School environment with interactions with students, teachers, parents, and administrative staff.
