  • Minimum 2 years of relevant teaching experience preferably with early childhood teaching experiences
  • Hold a valid passport from USA, Canada, UK, Australia, New Zealand, South America, Ireland or Philippines
  • Be able to commit to a one-year contract

  • Have no criminal record of any kind
  • China working visa requirement: candidate must be less than 60 years old
  • Salary: Attractive & competitive salary package based on experience will be offered. Estimated US$3,000 – US$4,000 per month (RMB equivalent).
  • Personal Income Tax: China’s tax payable will be paid by Gateway Education Center
  • Airfare: Fully reimbursed for one year of contract
  • Housing: A fully furnished apartment will be provided
  • Other benefits: Subsidized tour in China

Gateway Education Center, previously known as Gateway Foreign Language Institute. It was established in 2002, in the city of Chengdu, China, by an Adventist entrepreneur. When the center first started, it only offered English as a Second Language (ESL) classes for children. Now it has expanded to providing pre-school programs for younger children. As of now, they have 200 ESL students and 183 pre-school children. The 7-storey building that the school is in is able to accommodate 800 ESL students and 200 pre-school kids. As a result of the increased capacity, they are looking for three full-time teaching positions.

Job Description:

  • Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to the physical, cognitive, social, and emotional development of students with an emphasis on English language development and emergent literacy skills
  • Provide activities and opportunities that encourage curiosity, exploration, and problem solving appropriate to the development levels of the children
  • Observe, assess and record students regularly and professionally to evaluate progress in development and learning, and to detect signs of ill health and emotion disturbance
  • Together with lead teachers, discuss students’ development and learning problems, and progress with their parents timely and regularly
  • Other deemed necessary duties that are not described at the above
