Head of SEN Department

Invento the Uzbek International School is a dynamic international school in Tashkent offering international programmes alongside the national curriculum. We are seeking an experienced and highly competent Head of SEN Department to lead and further develop inclusive education practices across the school and Early Years (ages 2–6) for the 2026–2027 academic year.

This role is ideal for a specialist with strong leadership experience in special educational needs, who is confident working across different age groups and able to collaborate closely with students, parents, teachers, and leadership in a multilingual school environment.

About the Role

The Head of SEN Department is responsible for overseeing the identification, support, and progress of students with special educational needs from Early Years through Secondary School. The role combines strategic leadership, hands-on case management, collaboration with academic staff, and active engagement with families to ensure inclusive, effective, and well-coordinated support across all divisions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the SEN Department, ensuring effective systems, processes, and documentation across Early Years, Primary, and Secondary
  • Oversee the identification, assessment, and support of students with special educational needs, including early intervention for children aged 2–6
  • Develop, implement, and monitor Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and support strategies
  • Work closely with teachers to adapt instruction, classroom practices, and assessment to meet diverse learner needs
  • Provide guidance, training, and consultation to academic staff on inclusive and developmentally appropriate practices
  • Maintain clear and accurate documentation of student progress, interventions, and outcomes
  • Collaborate with school leadership on SEN policies, procedures, and resource planning
  • Communicate regularly and effectively with parents regarding student support and progress
  • Coordinate external specialists and services where required
  • Ensure compliance with school policies and best practices in inclusive education

Candidate Profile

  • Bachelor’s degree in Special Education, Psychology, Education, or a related field
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a leadership role within SEN / inclusive education
  • Proven experience supporting Early Years (2–6 years) and school-aged students
  • Leadership or coordination experience within SEN is a strong advantage
  • Strong understanding of inclusive education practices, early intervention, and individualized support planning
  • Fluent Russian is required for effective communication with students and families
  • Ability to work effectively in a multilingual and multicultural school environment
  • Strong communication, organization, and leadership skills
  • English level: Intermediate or higher
